Ted Santos’ latest book is called, Here’s Why You Can’t Find Love.  He wrote the book to usher in a new paradigm of corporate social responsibility.  

Problem:

According to Life Innovations Study, they concluded $300 billion is being lost in workplace productivity every year because of one word.  Divorce!  In any company, a percentage of your employee population is in one of three categories - headed for divorce, in the middle of one or just coming out of it.  With over 50% of marriages ending in divorce, many employees are distracted and distraught.  That makes them less productive at work.  

In addition, according to a divorceanswered.com article, they stated there is a decline in workplace performance by 50%-75% as well as time off to deal with legal, financial and psychological issues related to divorce.  Unproductive employees create unprofitable companies, which causes layoffs.  Layoffs put financial strain on marriages and cause more divorces.  The cycle perpetuates itself.    

Up to now, there has been no attempt to stop the bleeding of lost productivity.  We accept it as the cost of operating businesses.   

On the other hand, there appears to be a phenomenon that is being ignored.  Studies show couples in healthy relationships are better at resolving conflict and communicating effectively at work.  This shows interpersonal skills are transferrable to and from work.  

Solution:

Corporate social responsibility of the future will be corporations transforming society.  By training people in critical skills for successful relationships, men and women will learn to implement them at work.  Then they will transfer them to home and family life.  

In the book, Here’s Why You Can’t Find Love, many of those skills are presented in a story telling fashion.  The book highlights one man and five women engaged in a profound conversation about intimate relationships.  Interestingly, the book integrates corporate training into a subject most can relate to - love relationships.    

Through the book, people will learn about mindset, biases, saboteur behavior, mental barriers, blind spots, effective communication, conflict resolution, collaboration, and more.  The book is an introduction.  Advance development of those skills will come from workshops that focus on a breakthrough in workplace performance. 

While staff and management transform their mindsets and learn new competencies at work, they will bring it home and create a more favorable home life.  With a better home life, they will become better employees.  The cycle self perpetuates itself.
