“Don’t be
trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s
thinking.” – Steve Jobs
Despite
controversy, Steve Jobs was a legend. And without question, he was a living
example of what happens when you don’t get trapped by dogma. Contrary to
corporate America requirements, he was CEO of a Fortune 100 company even though
he only completed one semester of college. Instead, he went to India to find
his guru.
His freedom of
thinking was constantly illustrated throughout his career. Our lives will
forever be influenced by his innovative ideas.
At the same time,
do not confuse Mr. Jobs’ quote with
being a rebel. When you do the opposite of
what you have been told, you have engaged in a form of inverse dogma. Rebellion
as a way to deal with that which you do not like is dogmatic. Furthermore, when
you do the opposite, you still have no freedom. Why? Because your choice is
still dictated by the person against whom you are rebelling. Your choice is
still predicated on someone else. They have influenced you for or against. And
it is still a trap.
When you can hear
what people say to you and make a choice that considers their opinions, you
have freedom. Choice is a matter saying what you want because you say so.
It’s your life. It
will always be a result of your choice. What will you make of your life today?
Hey! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering which blog
ReplyDeleteplatform are you using for this site? I'm getting sick and tired of Wordpress because I've had issues with hackers and I'm looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be great if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
