Through that sympathy, they can suffer the same emotional trauma as though they had the experience.

I can ask questions where there are obvious answers, such as: have you been a slave? Were your parents slaves? Do you personally know someone who was a slave? Yet, people speak as though their answers to those questions are yes. That is the mindset that is focused on the corner with everything they don't want. The crazy thing is no one has even imposed those things on them. It's having too much sympathy for those who have experienced it. It's difficult to accomplish anything with that mindset. That mindset clouds one's view of life. A clouded view can make you walk right off a cliff. It's a way of putting the past in the future. I think you can apply the self fulfilled prophecy theory in your example as it relates to the individual. However on a collective or community level I think we must have a somewhat different perspective and/or approach. When I present this ideal most run to the ideal of secession, but that's not the purpose.

Given that Black Folks have been freed for over 100 years, except for a few examples, we have tried to integrate, assimilate, capitulated to the ideals of the dominate cultural; but to what avail?

Yes, there are more individual Black Folks who are millionaires and billionaires, we have more Blacks in politics, there's even been a Black president. However, when we look at the statistics see collectively the gap as widen between Blacks and Whites as it pertains to education, wealth, health care, property ownership etc... So the question be be ask; Why? Some will say it's self imposed, I, on the other hand believe most is systemic. It is from that perspective I think Black Folks need an Independent Black State.

There are those who say Black Folks aren't capable of governing and creating commerce for themselves. I use Greenwhich of 1921 Tulsa Oklahoma, Marcus Harvey's Universal Movement, The Nation of Islam prior 1975, The Blacl Panther Party as examples. Some will ask "where are they now?" Which lends proof(if one knows and have studied the histories of these organizations) that there are outside influnces preventing Blacks from obtaining true liberty and equality in this country.

I'll conclude your post or blog is eye opening and addresses issues and concerns of Balcks as individuals; we must peal the onion back further and look at the systemic conditions that affect the community at large.Dennis L.
